In late 2016 Nine Inch Nails announced vinyl reissues of their entire back catalog. Following these announcement their discography was updated with the Quake soundtrack alongside the words “We are working on making this available”. In June 2017 a store page opened for the soundtrack saying “Coming soon”.
On September 16, 2020 it was finally announced to be ready.
The release is a 2LP on 180g black vinyl. It is housed in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves and features an etching on side D.
Orders opened on September 16, 2020 and it began shipping shortly after.
The release was supposed to include a booklet with essays by developers John Carmack and American McGee, but this was blocked by Zenimax Media who owned the Quake IP at the time of the vinyl release. The booklet was distributed digitally, but was also taken down after a short time.
