The Timespinner soundtrack is now available from Yetee Records

Yetee Records are teaming up with Materia Collective to release the soundtrack to the metroidvania Timespinner on vinyl.

The release will be a single LP on blue and purple swirl colored vinyl. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket with new artwork by Drew Wise and Kevin Fagaragan. It will be limited to 300 copies. Orders from The Yetee will also include an instant digital download.

The album is priced at $25 and is in stock and ready to ship out. It can be ordered from The Yetee here.

To be honest I care very little about the games he's scored - but the music? Great stuff! Wasn't super familiar with his music before picking up this beauty. Great electronic score with killer artwork and a lovely colorway. Ticks all the boxes. It led me to check out his great work on the Hannibal TV show and his earlier score for Red Faction: Armageddon, both of which are also really good. Catchy as hell theme song from the game Bugsnax, which was featured in the game's announcement trailer way back in 2020 and was released on this 7" shortly after the game came out. Made with strawberry screen print on the b-side and (very slightly) strawberry scented as well. So wild that you could get officially sanctioned Nintendo arrangement albums. And those albums could be wild too. Like this one - in all its cheesy 80s synth glory. It tries out a lot of things and while it can be hit or miss it's at the very least always fun.   • Album: Ghost Giant Soundtrack Artist(s): Joel Bille (@joelbulle) & Bortre Rymden (@bortrerymden) Label: Perp Games (@perpgames), 2019 Game(s): Ghost Giant What a gem. Cozy folksy vibes. The good soundtrack not only to a VR game, but a great soundtrack to being home alone, reading a book, contemplating. Nothing captures the feeling of the soundtrack better than the title of the track "Mitt Happyplace När Världen Står I Brand" - literally: "my happy place when the world is on fire". It's not one I can listen to on repeat, but for the specific vibe mentioned above there's nothing quite like it. It's a pressing of just 200 copies launched alongside physical PS4 copies of the game (but at least available for purchase on its own).   • Album: Pulstar The Definitive Soundtrack Artist(s): Harumi Fujita Label: Brave Wave (@bravewavemusic), 2019 Game(s): Pulstar I'm quite conflicted with this release. The compositions are great, the packaging is nice and the booklet with Fujita breaking down each track is excellent... But the AES version of the soundtrack on disc 1 is so poor quality. And I don't mean the pressing, but the actual music. Thankfully the release is redeemed by the inclusion of the Neogeo CD version of the soundtrack on disc 2, which is straight up fantastic. I remember getting to disc 2 on my first listen and immediately thinking "this is how it should sound!".   • Album: Colours Artist(s): Rafael Dyll & Kordian Więcek Label: eastasiasoft (@eastasiasoft), 2019 Game(s): Rainbow Skies, Rainbow Moon, Last Hope, The Ghost Blade Artwork: M-Create (@mcreateagentur) A piano arrangement album of music from a handful of eastasiasoft games all newly arranged by original composer Rafael Dyll and performed by pianist Kordian Więcek. The album was available via a Kickstarter campaign back in 2018 with just 100 vinyl copies having been pressed. Not pictured here, but it also came with a sheet music booklet. The campaign reached its stretch goal to include a few more tracks from other games scored by Dyll, but those were eventually left out of the vinyl press due to it otherwise being too long.   • Album: Apes In The Net Artist(s): Soichi Terada (@teradasoichi) Label: Far East Recording, 2024 Game(s): Ape Escape, Ape Escape 3 Maybe not entirely the Ape Escape vinyl release most of us wanted, but it was what we got. And for what it is - it's pretty damn good. It's an EP of 6 tracks - 5 from Ape Escape and one from Ape Escape 3 - released on composer Soichi Terada's own label. There's nothing really fancy about the release itself as it comes in a plain black jacket with an info sticker, but it lets the music do the talking. Beautiful 90s dnb/jungle vibes!   • Album: wipE'out'' - The Zero Gravity Soundtrack Artist(s): CoLD SToRAGE (@coldstorageofficial) Label: Lapsus Records (@lapsus_barcelona), 2023 Game(s): wipEout, wipEout 2097/XL Artwork: Basora (@basora) Back when the games were still new the soundtracks to wipEout and wipEout 2097 (known as wipEout XL in the US) were released - even on vinyl - but only with the licensed tracks used in the games (+ many not actually featured in the games, but just fitting the vibe and style). That means they left out the excellent original music made for both, which was composed and performed by Psygnosis' in-house musician Tim Wright aka. CoLD SToRAGE. A crazy almost 30-year wait was thankfully over last year, when Lapsus announced they had partnered up with CoLD SToRAGE to finally release the original wipEout and 2097 music. And what a release. 3LPs with all the tracks incl. an LP of just brand new remixes from a variety of highly acclaimed electronic artists. The version shown here is the exclusive silver vinyl variant, which came with a sticker sheet and two bonus art prints.   • Album: River City Girls Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Megan McDuffee (@megmcduffee), Chipzel (@chipzel), Dale North (@corgiking), NateWantsToBattle (natewantstobtl) Label: Limited Run Games (@limitedrungames), 2019 Game(s): River City Girls One of my most played albums back when it released. Absolutely love the whole mix of synth/electro and vocal tracks from main composer Megan McDuffee, rock tracks by NateWantsToBattle and the blistering chiptune boss inferno from Chipzel - among all the other good stuff at play here! It includes more or less all tracks released from the game, but shortens some of them compared to the digital release to ensure it fits on two LPs. It's still a nice release, though, with good art and matching vinyl colors. This went a bit under my radar when it first released back in 2022, but I was fortunate enough to grab a copy eventually. The soundtrack is nice if a little peculiar at times. It definitely feels like it's taken inspiration from the music of Nier and Automata with some of its use of vocals + it appears it's using a made-up language for the vocal tracks as well. The release was initially a Record Store Day-exclusive, with my copy being the "white fog" version for Canada (which was the one to get international distro). There was also a black fog version for the US, but it has since seen other non-RSD pressings later on.   • Album: Quake Artist(s): Nine Inch Nails (@nineinchnails) Label: The Null Corporation Game(s): Quake Design: Corey Holms, Art Direction: John Crawford Announced in late 2016 we had to wait around 4 years before it finally came out. But man, it was worth the wait. Presentation is pretty simple, but does the job. It's a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeve, and side D of the album features an etching. It was supposed to also include a booklet with developer essays, but that was blocked by Zenimax, who owns the IP, so it was distributed digitally for a while instead (until that too was shut down). There's a lot of things to say about this game, but I think most has been said already, so I'll focus on this little vinyl release. And wow, kinda. This 7" was part of the game's press kit - and possibly also distributed on its own, although not fully sure about that. The effort put into it is really quite something. Lovely matte gatefold jacket with gold foil AND a printed inner sleeve - all with great art!? For a promotional 7"!?! Kudos to whoever handled this 7", because they did a bang-up job!   • Album: Snake Pass Original Soundtrack Artist(s): David Wise (@mad_dog_dave) Label: Super Rare Games (@superraregames), 2018 Game(s): Snake Pass I always love when legendary composers of the 80s and 90s show up in modern indies to show that they absolutely still got it. 2017 indie puzzle game Snake Pass is such a case as its soundtrack was composed by none other than Rare legend David Wise. It's a playful soundtrack full of whimsy and wonder and I doubt any Wise fans will leave disappointed. The vinyl pressing is limited to just 500 and was sorta slept on back when it first came out, but these days it's completely sold out and goes for a quite hefty prices.   • Album: Tekken Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Namco Sounds Label: Laced Records (@laced_audio), 2020 Game(s): Tekken Artwork: Samuel Donato I'm not sure what Namco musicians were on during the 90s, but they kept pushing out insanely good electronic soundtracks and even from the very beginning of the series Tekken certainly was no exception. The release dedicates a disc each to the arcade and PlayStation soundtracks respectively and it comes in a gatefold jacket with great new illustrations.   • Album: Punishing Echo: Gray Raven Vol. 1 Artist(s): Vanguard Sound (Haloweak, GhostFinal, RabbitJ, 周存, Xin, Evalia, CoyDE, Ank, Polyblue, MeLo, Ringo, Tony Yan & Moto, Rainbow Chamber Singers) Label: Kuro Games, 2024 Game(s): Punishing: Gray Raven Soundtrack to Chinese mobile RPG Punishing: Gray Raven, which was released early this year. Was not really sure what to expect of this, but the soundtrack is really quite strong and mixes both darker techno with lighter electronic pop songs with great variety. Feels like a lot of these Chinese games are great soundtracks that also come with a game, which suits me well as the whole gacha mobile gaming thing is absolutely not me. Importing them is a bit of a pain, though, especially because almost all of these Chinese titles come in large "gift box" sets with a lot of extra merch and stuff, which I have very little use for. (@stsphonoco), 2018 Game(s): Gradius Artwork: Ian Wilding (@iwilding) A true shoot 'em up classic, the Gradius release presented here made the somewhat surprising call to include the NES and MSX versions of the soundtrack instead of the original arcade tunes. The NES version is sort of a no-brainer given the popularity of that port, but I feel the MSX version more than justifies itself by featuring excellent renditions of the classic Gradius tunes. I suspect they could've fit in the arcade version as well, seeing as the total length of this is just slightly more than 20 mins, but oh well, what we are getting is still great. Also a release that holds a really quite nice and relaxing ambient soundtrack that goes well with the exploratory nature of the game. The full soundtrack release is well over 3 hours long, so the vinyl release was sequenced down to carefully selected 10 tracks that works well as a standalone album.
