Unreleased music from Incredibox now up for vinyl preorer

Unreleased music from the game/music tool Incredibox is getting released on vinyl from developer So Far So Good.

The release will be a single LP on black vinyl. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket with game art. It will be limited to 135 copies.

It is priced at €35 and is scheduled to release in December, 2021. It can be preordered from Bandcamp here.

  • Album: Gaming In Symphony Artist(s): The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (@dknationalsymph) conducted by Eimear Noone (@eimearnoonemusic) Label: EuroArts (@euroartsmusic), 2019 Game(s): Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Assassin's Creed II, World Of Warcraft: Warlords Of Draenor, Grim Fandango, F-Zero, DOOM, Sonic The Hedgehog, Street Fighter II, Super Mario Bros., Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars Design: Anja Hoppe In August 2018 The Danish National Symphony Orchestra performed a wonderful concert with music from a wide selection of different video games. Fortunately, it was recorded not only for broadcast, but also for a vinyl release, which came the following year. The release includes six tracks including two medleys - one retro gaming medley, which I particularly adore, and a Halo series medley. Unfortunately this vinyl release is only a selection of the full recording and omits the tracks from Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, A Hat In Time, BioShock, Shadow Of The Colossus, Forgotton Anne, Final Fantasy VII, and a suite from World Of Warcraft - all of which were included in both its digital release. It would've all fit on a 2LP, but alas. That aside it's a nice pressing. The release is fairly barebones itself, but does the job. On the plus side it was always fairly affordable and these days it can also be found quite cheap on the second hand market.   • Album: Horizon Chase Turbo Original Soundtrack + Senna Forever Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Barry Leitch (@barryleitch) Label: Minimum Records (@minimumrecords), 2022 Game(s): Horizon Chase Turbo Artwork: Anouvong Southiphong (@blooddonuts) It's always sad when a great label is calling it a day, so this one goes out to Minimum Records - thanks for all the great releases! They put out the soundtrack to what would be their final release - the racing game Horizon Chase Turbo - back in 2022 and it's a bop. It's a 3LP set with the full game soundtrack on the first two discs and music from the Senna Forever DLC on the third. Composer Barry Leitch is a master of racing game music and this one is another hit. Upbeat tunes that will put you in a great mood when spinning this record - and tense you up as you're closing in on the first place in the game. I'd hoped Minimum would also put out Leitch's great soundtrack to the sequel, but clearly that won't be the case now. Hopefully someone else can pick that one up.   • Album: Turrican 30th Anniversary Sound Collection Artist(s): Chris Hülsbeck (@chris_huelsbeck) Label: Strictly Limited Games (@realstrictlylimited), 2022 Game(s): Turrican, Turrican II: The Final Fight, Super Turrican, Super Turrican 2, Turrican 3, Mega Turrican I was pretty excited when I heard about this massive Turrican set being released as it features some absolutely classic tunes spread out across the series' releases on Amiga, SNES and Mega Drive. The first four discs includes updated studio recordings of music from the first three Turrican games as well as Super Turrican 2, while the latter three includes the original versions of the tracks - and includes music from the aforementioned games as well as Super Turrican and Mega Turrican. Unfortunately the release was hit with delay after delay (something of a common occurence with Strictly Limited Games I've since learned), and it took more than 2 years for it to ship after preorders opened. As frustrating as that was, at least the end product turned out really well. It's a great box and the pressing is excellent. It also comes with a few bonus goodies like postcards and a poster.   • Album: Battle Garegga Rev. 2016 Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Manabu Namiki Label: Limited Run Games (@limitedrungames), 2019 Game(s): Battle Garegga The king of shoot 'em up soundtracks Manabu Namiki certainly delivered with his tunes for Battle Garegga. I absolutely suck at schmups, so I don't have any real experience with the game itself (and from what I hear it may not be the right game to start with from a difficulty perspective either), but the music goes hard. "Erupter" may not be the most listenable track, but damn it still blows my mind whenever I get to it. This is the music made for the Rev 2016 version of the game for PS4, which, as I understand, is a slightly updated version of the original arcade tunes, but I'm not quite aware of the bigger differences between the two. The vinyl release was available only as part of the collector's edition box set for the PS4 game via Limited Run Records (or - if you were lucky - as part of their vinyl blind boxes that came out a bit later).   • Album: A Plague Tale: Innocence Artist(s): Olivier Deriviere Label: Black Screen Records (@blackscreenrecords), 2019 Game(s): A Plague Tale: Innocence Artwork: Damien Papet, Olivier Ponsonnet Haunting score that complements the 14th century French setting of the game and its themes really well. I think the way Deriviere has handled music that seems appropriate for the period the game is set in that can also underscore the mix of hope and horror in the game is really quite impressive. It can feel a bit daunting to listen to it on its own at first, but I've found that it really grows quite a lot with subsequent listens. The score got a promo pressing when the game first released, but later received this more expanded 2LP release from Black Screen Records.   • Album: Endless Space 2 Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Arnaud Roy (@flybyno) Label: G4F Records (@g4frecords), 2019 Game(s): Endless Space 2 Artwork: Amplitude Studios (@amplitudestudios) Arnaud Roy created an excellent soundtrack for Amplitude's Endless Space follow-up with an excellent blend of electronic and orchestral music. Despite never having played the game I really enjoy this soundtrack. It doesn't feature the full 2 hour soundtrack, but is nicely split up in disc 1 featuring the main theme and gameplay music, with disc 2 being dedicated to all the faction themes. It was released back in 2019 following a crowdfunding campaign on G4F Records' own store. It had a minimum goal of 200 backers and just made that goal and in the end just 250 copies were pressed. The first 200 backers got a signed copy as well.   • Album: Dandara Artist(s): Thommaz Kauffmann (@thommaz) Label: Mana Wave Media (@manawavemedia), 2021 Game(s): Dandara Artwork: Luísa Almeida (@luisa4lmeida) Soundtrack to Brazilian indie metroidvania Dandara. I haven't played the game and even without that context this soundtrack creates an atmosphere of something that's both beautiful and tense. It absolutely stands on its own as a great listen even without the game (which I hear is really good as well, it's just a genre that I suck at). It comes in a thick tip-on gatefold jacket with absolutely amazing artwork. It was a pressing of just 500 copies across all three colorways and I think it's largely sold out now, however, second-hand prices doesn't seem to have gone through the roof (yet anyway). This feels like a very 90s kinda thing - but in the best possible way. All tracks are from different techno artists, but - like with the wipEout compilations - it just works. There's not a bad track on this album. Sure it's definitely music from a different time, but it still holds up! The 2LP here is just about half of the full soundtrack, which is still only on CD, but it is certainly a strong selection of music nonetheless. You put out another! And sadly that was the last of it. I still imagine the garage-themed box set that could've been had they kept doing these. Like the first Drift Stage record the tracks from Myrone on this one are both great as well. (@stsphonoco), 2021 Game(s): Crawlco Block Knockers Artwork: Mike Luckas (@stupiddeadskullhead) A game heavily inspired by sleazy Japanese puzzle games of the 80s and 90s that will gradually reveal pictures of scantily clad women as you progress. Not your thing? Please don't let that deter you from checking out it's groovy synth-funk soundtrack. Very much in the game's spirit it comes in a die-cut jacket that will show off bits of the insert within and - quite literally - block the knockers, which are very much present on the insert itself (not shown here). And it's not like the back cover is subtle about what the game is about either. Regardless of whether you're into the naughty nature of the game and the artwork on this release, the soundtrack itself is a banger that shouldn't be slept on.   • Album: Cult Of The Lamb Original Soundtrack Artist(s): River Boy (@riverboybeats) Label: Laced Records (@laced_audio) / Devolver Digital (@devolverdigital), 2023 Game(s): Cult Of The Lamb (@cultofthelambofficial) Artwork: Carles Dalmau (@carles_dalmau) Didn't really know what to expect when I put this on the first time as I hadn't played the game, but it sure wasn't these chill beats to sacrifice cuddly villagers to. Needless to say I'm all up for that. It's a really good and interesting soundtrack that I've put on quite a lot since getting it and it works perfectly even when you haven't played the game. The artwork from the game's artist Carles Dalmau is top notch with its lovely outer and grim inner artwork! And of course the red and black splatter discs too came out great. It's a lovely package all around, but it's unfortunately sold out right now.   • Album: Deltarune Chapter 1 Soundtrack Artist(s): Toby Fox Label: Fangamer (@fangamercom), 2019 Game(s): Deltarune Chapter 1 Artwork: ADE / あで A game set in an alternate and/or connected world to Undertale, the first chapter of Deltarune dropped a bit out of nowhere in late 2018. Like with Undertale the game'sc creator Toby Fox did the vast majority of music for Deltarune. The chiptune style is somewhat similar, so if you like one you'd probably like the other too. Visually the release is a treat with great new artwork by ADE on both the jacket and printed inners. As a neat little bonus it also comes with a set of holographic stickers of in-game characters, art and symbols. Records, 1987 Game(s): Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road, Athena, Tank (TNK III), Ikari Warriors, Alpha Mission Time for another G.M.O. release! This one covers 5 SNK arcade games from the mid-80s. It's not my favorite collection of tunes, but there's still some solid stuff in there. Particularly the Ikari Warriors theme is catchy and tends to get randomly stuck in my head at times.   • Album: Scarlet Nexus Artist(s): Hayata Takeda Label: Bandai Namco (@bandainamcoeu), 2021 Game(s): Scarlet Nexus Wasn't sure what to expect from this, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good this mix of electronic and orchestral tracks. It's just a small selection of a much larger soundtrack, but the picks feel solid nonetheless. There was some small issues with it as Bamco announced it is being red and black vinyl + it was meant to feature one more track. Minor things in the grand scheme, but it was never acknowledged.   • Album: Mooseman Soundtrack Artist(s): Mikhail Shvachko (@mikhailshvachko) Label: Red Art Games (@redartgames), 2021 Game(s): The Mooseman Short but beautiful soundtrack to a quite interesting looking game. The Mooseman is inspired by mythology and folklore from the Komi people in the Perm region of Russia, which certainly isn't your everyday setting. As such the music also takes inspiration from Komi folk music and even uses a student choir from the Perm region for its choral parts. The pressing is limited to just 300 numbered copies, but seemingly it didn't sell that well as you can occasionally find it for sale for quite cheap. It was released for free digitally by Capcom and Marvel in anticipation of the digital release of the game for Xbox 360 and PS3. The vinyl pressing is limited to 200 copies and was available at Capcom's fighting games panel as well as from their merch booth (as a "free" giveaway to people who spent more than $500 (!!) there) during SDCC 2009. That's PopSlinger and it got a gorgeous vinyl release a few years back. There's not a bunch of bonus stuff included, but the art, colors and music just goes extremely well hand-in-hand.   • Album: The Revenge Of Shinobi Artist(s): Yuzo Koshiro Label: Data Discs (@datadiscs), 2017 Game(s): The Revenge Of Shinobi A Mega Drive/Genesis classic action game - and with a great soundtrack as well. It was Yuzo Koshiro's first soundtrack commissioned by Sega and you can absolutely hear his influences from dance music here already, even if The Revenge Of Shinobi still sounds a little more "video game-y" (is that a thing?) compared to his later works on the Streets Of Rage series. This is the original 2017 pressing from Data Discs, which was sourced directly from Mega Drive hardware. It comes with an insert with the cover art on one side and new liner notes by Yuzo Koshiro on the other. Since this vinyl release came out, Koshiro discovered his original files for the music and had them remastered for the new vinyl edition, which released earlier this year.   • Album: Ultimate Chicken Horse Original Soundtrack Artist(s): Vibe Avenue (@vibeavenuemusic) Label: Debug Records, 2020 Game(s): Ultimate Chicken Horse A massively underrated banger of an album. Jazz, funk, prog?! This soundtrack is as diverse as the amounts of traps you can lay for your friends in the game. Came out on Debug Records back in the early days of COVID and is limited to just 300 copies that also came with a game character sticker sheet. It sold somewhat slowly, but is long gone now.   • Album: I'll Keep Coming / Easy Way Out Artist(s): Low Roar (lowroar) Label: Mondo (@mondonews), 2017 Game(s): Death Stranding Artwork: Randy Ortiz (@randyortizdtd) This 12" dropped in early 2017 following Death Stranding's announcement at E3 2016 and comes with the song "I'll Keep Coming" from said trailer alongside the song "Easy Way Out" both by Low Roar (RIP...). Both songs were eventually included in the game and also released on a separate vinyl release featuring the game's licensed songs. But seeing as the game didn't release until late 2019 that one was still a ways out when Mondo dropped this 12". There may not be a lot on this release, but what's there is great.
