Turrican II Live Orchestra Album box set Kickstarter launched by Chris Hülsbeck

Today composer Chris Hülsbeck launched a Kickstarter  campaign for a live orchestra version of his soundtrack to the 1991 Commodore Amiga game Turrican II: The Final Fight.

The album will be produced by Merrognon Studios (who have previously worked on the Final Symphony concerts and Hülsbeck’s Turrican Soundtrack Anthology). It will be released in individually numbered box sets that include the album on both CD and on a 2LP. Additionally, the box set will feature brand new manga-style artwork. The box set will be limited to 1000 copies.

The set will be available for backers who pledge $50 at the early bird tier or more. Higher tiers include art prints, signed score sheet, and more.

If the project is succesfully funded the box set is set to release in April 2017, with the digital version becoming available December 2016.

You can read more about it and back the Kickstarter here.

Ghost Ramp to release the soundtrack to Nuclear Throne

Today Ghost Ramp announced via Twitter that they will be releasing the soundtrack to Vlambeer’s top-down rogue-like Nuclear Throne. The soundtrack is done by Jukio Kallio (also known as Kozilek).

Not much else about the release has been revealed and no indication on a release date, so for now we’ll have to make do with the digital version of the soundtrack which can be streamed via Jukio Kallio’s Bandcamp.

More Drift Stage releases coming from Ghost Ramp

In a Kickstarter update today Super Systems Softworks (the people behind Drift Stage) detailed upcoming merchandise plans in collaboration with Ghost Ramp. And that included a lot of good news for VGM vinyl fans.

It was revealed that the full soundtrack by Myrone will receive a vinyl pressing, it was also revealed that a second car-shaped 7″ with new music and design (the Keizai model), and finally it was revealed that the first car-shaped 7″, which sold out in pre-order, will be re-pressed.

There are no ETA’s on any of these, but the updated noted that the Keizai-shaped 7″ is being pressed right now, so I imagine we will hear more about it soon. The Keizai-release was also previously teased by Ghost Ramp who uploaded the cover art for it (see below).

UPDATE: Somehow I overlooked that Super Systems uploaded a mockup of the record – so feast your eyes on this:

A vinyl version of Black Materia by Mega Ran & Lost Perception is set to release on Record Store Day

It was teased via a small YouTube-clip from The Yetee back in January, but now it’s up on their website and it is set to release on Saturday – April 16th (Record Store Day 2016).

The album was originally release on CD and digital back in 2011, but is now receiving a vinyl release as well. The vinyl version has been remixed and remastered with new orchestrated Final Fantasy VII arrangements by R23X.  A full remaster of the track “Avalanche” have been uploaded to Soundbutt. Additionally, the full unremastered album can still be streamed via Bandcamp, although the new version is bound to be somewhat different.

The album features completely new artwork done by Drew Wise.

The album will come out on a 140g 2LP via Yetee Records. It’s marketed as a limited edition, but there’s no word on how limited it is.

The Black Materia 2LP can be ordered from their website here (orders cannot be placed until April 16, though).
