Data Discs to release The Revenge Of Shinobi alongside Panzer Dragoon

Data Discs have been teasing us about their next releases for a while, but today they’ve shed some light on what they’ll be. First up is Yoshitaka Azuma’s Panzer Dragoon soundtrack, which they announced earlier this year, and second up is the previously unannounced The Revenge Of Shinobi soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro.

Panzer Dragoon will be released as a 180g 2LP cut at 45RPM and comes in a thick mirror board sleeve. It will be available in three color variants – limited edition sky clear with blue and grey swatches, sky blue opaque, and classic black vinyl. It also includes a lithographic insert.

The Revenge Of Shinobi will be released as a single 180g LP cut at 45RPM. It will be available in three color variants – bone with black splatter, bone opaque, and classic black. It also includes a double-sided lithographic print. As a bonus 50 lucky early buyers of the limited edition will receive a numbered copy signed by Yuzo Koshiro.

Both releases will go up for sale on Saturday December 3rd, 2016 via Data Discs website. Panzer Dragoon is ready to ship immediately, while The Revenge Of Shinobi is scheduled to release January 2017.

On December 3rd on onward Panzer Dragoon can be ordered via this link, while The Revenge Of Shinobi can be preordered via this link.

Data Discs will be releasing Golden Axe I & II on vinyl

Last week Data Discs teased that they would be releasing a surprise title that would be ready to ship immediately this week – and today they sent out a newsletter confirming that this release would be the soundtrack for Golden Axe I & II on the same record. The soundtrack to Golden Axe is composed by Tohru Nakabayashi and Golden Axe II is composed by Naofumi Hataya.

As always Data Discs are offering three variants and this time around they will be doing a limited edition variant on transulcent gold vinyl with purple swatches (see image below), a regular translucent gold vinyl version, and a classic black version.

Additionally, the release will come with two lithographic prints featuring game artwork.

The release will be able to order from Data Discs’ website on August 27. As usual subscribers to their newsletter will be given a code to access their site a little earlier than everyone else.

Data Discs to open preorders for the OutRun vinyl soundtrack

In a newsletter today Data Discs announced that they will open up for preorders on their long-awaited OutRun release on June 25th. The release features music from Hiroshi “Hiro” Kawaguchi, Masayoshi Ishi, Manabu Namiki, and Jane-Evelyn Nisperos.

The release was originally announced back in September 2015, but this is the first time we receive more information about it. As usual there will be different variants – this time there will be a limited edition variant exclusive to Data Discs own store on mint green, clear, and pink three-stripe vinyl, one on solid mint green vinyl, and one on classic black (see mockups below). The cover will be die-cut and will show part of the artwork from the record sleeves and the release will also include liner notes by Hiroshi Kawaguchi.

The release features the full original 1986 arcade version as well as three bonus tracks taken from the 1991 Mega Drive and 2014 3DS versions.

To make everything a little bit sweeter 50 lucky pre-order customers will have their limited edition version signed by Kawaguchi (to see more specifics on that, please follow the pre-order link below).

Preorders will open from Data Discs’ store on June 25th at 7PM (UK time) and are expected to ship out in July. Please note that people on Data Discs’ mailing list will receive a code that gives earlier access to the store.

Data Discs to release the Panzer Dragoon score on vinyl

In a newsletter Data Discs have just announced that they will be releasing Yoshitaka Azuma’s score to the 1995 Sega Saturn game Panzer Dragoon.

Not much was revealed other than the title announcement, where it was briefly stated that this title will join the previously announced Out Run OST for Data Discs’ 2016 lineup. A screenshot of the full (albeit brief) announcement can be seen below:

The Streets Of Rage 2 OST can be ordered from Data Discs on February 27

Data Discs have just announced that their next release will be Yuzo Koshiro’s soundtrack to Streets Of Rage 2. It was revealed already last year that Data Discs will be releasing the soundtracks to the entire Streets Of Rage trilogy on vinyl, but it isn’t until now that we’ve had news about the series second installment.

They are opening for pre-orders on Saturday (Feb 27) and orders are expected to ship early April. The release will be a 2LP (a first for Data Discs) in a gatefold sleeve. It will come with two lithographic prints with archival artwork and of course an OBI strip. The soundtrack has been fully remastered in collaboration with Koshiro himself and will include four bonus tracks in the shape of demos, alternate versions and unused music.

As per usual there are several variants – one limited, one regular colored and a black. The limited edition will be on clear vinyl with black smoke and red splatter, while the regular colored will be on clear vinyl with black smoke.

As stated earlier pre-orders won’t open until Saturday, but when that happens they can be ordered from here: http://data-discs.com/products/streetsofrage2

Also please note – subscribers to the Data Discs newsletter will receive a code for early access to the pre-order so if you’re not signed up now might be a good time to do so.

NOTE: There are many more releases planned before SoR3. While it has been confirmed by Data Discs that they will release it, there is no indication on when that will happen and – as far as I know – it is not scheduled to be released anytime soon.

Four new titles officially confirmed by Data Discs

Shinobi III: Return Of The Ninja Master, Super Hang-On, Out Run, and Streets Of Rage 2 have been officially confirmed to be released on vinyl by Data Discs.

Shinobi III and Streets Of Rage 2 had already been confirmed via comments on social media, but this is the first major announcement with new information that they’ve had.

Coming up first is Shinobi III: Return Of The Ninja Master.  The soundtrack by Hirofumi Murasaki, Morihiko Akiyama and Masayuki Nagao will come in three color variants – classic black, oxblood, and oxblood/bone split. The album will furthermore feature an OBI strip and a foldout poster with original artwork. It will be available to order from October 2, 2015 and from  the sound of it, these are ready to ship – no mentions of pre-ordering.

Next up is Super Hang-On. The soundtrack by Koichi Namiki, Katsuhiro Hayashi and Shigeru Ohwada will come in two different variants – classic black, and opaque tricoulor segment vinyl. The album will feature an OBI strip, a die-cut cover and a printed innersleeve and will be cut at 45 RPM. Pre-orders for this will open in early November, 2015 and are expected to ship out in December.

As for fan favorites Out Run and Streets of Rage 2 there are not many specific news other than these are expected to be released  in 2016.
