Data Discs have just announced that their next release will be Yuzo Koshiro’s soundtrack to Streets Of Rage 2. It was revealed already last year that Data Discs will be releasing the soundtracks to the entire Streets Of Rage trilogy on vinyl, but it isn’t until now that we’ve had news about the series second installment.
They are opening for pre-orders on Saturday (Feb 27) and orders are expected to ship early April. The release will be a 2LP (a first for Data Discs) in a gatefold sleeve. It will come with two lithographic prints with archival artwork and of course an OBI strip. The soundtrack has been fully remastered in collaboration with Koshiro himself and will include four bonus tracks in the shape of demos, alternate versions and unused music.
As per usual there are several variants – one limited, one regular colored and a black. The limited edition will be on clear vinyl with black smoke and red splatter, while the regular colored will be on clear vinyl with black smoke.
As stated earlier pre-orders won’t open until Saturday, but when that happens they can be ordered from here: http://data-discs.com/products/streetsofrage2
Also please note – subscribers to the Data Discs newsletter will receive a code for early access to the pre-order so if you’re not signed up now might be a good time to do so.
NOTE: There are many more releases planned before SoR3. While it has been confirmed by Data Discs that they will release it, there is no indication on when that will happen and – as far as I know – it is not scheduled to be released anytime soon.
