Once Upon A Katamari and a reissue of Katamari Damacy are being released on vinyl by Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco are releasing the soundtracks to popular puzzle games Once Upon A Katamari and Katamari Damacy on vinyl. Katamari Damacy was first released on vinyl by Mondo in 2018, but has been sold out and highly sought after for a long time now.

Once Upon A Katamari will be a 2LP on green and white colored vinyl. It will be housed in a gatefold jacket with new artwork by Kazuki Takakura.

Katamari Damacy will be a 2LP on black vinyl. It will be housed in a gatefold jacket with new artwork by Keita Takahashi.

They are priced at ¥8800 each and are both set to release around December 17, 2026. Once Upon A Katamari can be preordered via the Asobi Store here, and Katamari can be preordered via the Asobi Store here.

They are also both available from other Japanese distributors, but there’s no word on any Western distribution yet.

Bandai Namco remix LP now up for preorder

Bandai Namco Entertainment have announced that they will be releasing a series of music releases titled Asobi no Oto. The first in the series will be Volume 0, which is now up for preorder.

There’s some contradiction between the tracklists from the announcement and the store pages, but the following games should at least be represented alongside a few others: Wonder Momo, Pac-Man, Xevious, New Rally-X, Genpei Tōma Den, Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan Daijiten, Taiko no Tatsujin, Muscle March, and Pac-Mania.

The release will be a single LP on black vinyl. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket with new Pac-Man artwork. It will also include a digital download code.

It is priced at $30/¥3500 and is scheduled to release in March, 2020. It can be preordered from Tokyo Otaku Mode here for international orders or the Asobi Store here for Japanese orders.

Mondo to release Katamari Damacy on vinyl

Last year it was rumored that Mondo had announced the release of the Katamari Damacy soundtrack on vinyl at MondoCon. This was later confirmed by Mondo, and now they have properly announced its release!

The release will be a 180g 2LP with one disc on green & purple swirl and the other on red & white swirl colored vinyl. Each disc will be housed in a screen-printed poly-bag and the release will come in a gatefold jacket. Art is handled by WeBuyYourKids.

It will be limited to 3000 copies, but it sounds like retail copies might be available later.

Orders open on March 21, 2018 and it is scheduled to begin shipping early April 2018. It will be priced at $35.

R23X’s Katamari Fantasy flexi can be ordered via The Yetee now

The Yetee have just begun taking orders for their release of R23X’s Katamari Fantasy, which features mashups of Katamari Damacy and Final Fantasy music. The release was first sold at this year’s MAGfest.

The release is a flexi disc that comes in a cover featuring artwork by Drew Wise. As something special this will be a timed release and will only be available between February 13 to 15 (ending at 11:23PM CST).
