Video game cover band Kirby’s Dream Band have just opened up vinyl preorders for their upcoming album “Bat Out Of HAL”.
The album mostly features arrangements of music from the Kirby series, but also a few tracks from other games such as Undertale and Final Fantasy V.
The release will be a single LP on “sunset” colored vinyl. It will be housed in a single-pocket jacket with new artwork by Maiko inspired by Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell” album.
It was announced in their newsletter last year that Data Discs would release the soundtrack to Space Harrier, but it wasn’t until earlier this week that the details of the release were announced.
The release will include the full arcade soundtrack for the game, but also includes an arrangement of the game’s main theme performed by the S.S.T. Band.
The release will be a single 45RPM 180g LP. It will be housed in a single pocket jacket with original game artwork. It will feature an OBI, a lithographic print of the front art and liner notes by composer Hiroshi Kawaguchi.
As usual Data Discs will offer 3 different color variants for the release – a limited edition green translucent with purple splatter that has a special 3D lenticular jacket, a dark green translucent, and a classic black vinyl version.
As a little bonus 50 randomly chosen copies preordered within the first 48 hours will be signed by composer Hiroshi Kawaguchi.
The release is priced at £20 for the standard versions, and £27 for the limited edition. It is scheduled to release around May 31, 2018.
It can be preordered via Data Discs’ store here on May 5, 2018 at 7PM UK time (or earlier if you’re signed up for Data Discs’ newsletter passwords).
