We’ve known for a while that Mondo would release the soundtrack to the puzzle FPS classic Portal – and now it’s finally here. Or now it’s at least here for everyone as Mondo did already release an exclusive variant for this year’s MondoCon.
The release is a single LP on grey and white split colored vinyl. It is housed in a custom packaging designed by Alan Hynes. The packaging is shaped after the game’s Companion Cube and functions like a magic wallet, that can be opened from both sides.
Yetee Records have just announced that they will be releasing the soundtrack to Tumbleseed alongside the previously announced vinyl release to Flinthook. And not just that – they also have exclusive variants of Ship To Shore PhonoCo.’s Rocket Knight Adventures and Kid Dracula releases.
Tumbleseed will be a single LP on a clear vinyl picture disc. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket with artwork by Drew Wise.
Flinthook will be a single LP on pink vinyl. It will be housed in a special cover with a plastic outer and die-cut inner designed by Drew Wise. Artwork is done by Stephanie Bourgeault.
For the exclusive variants Rocket Knight Adventures will be a blue and green merge, while Kid Dracula will be a white and grey split.
Flinthook is priced at $30, Tumbleseed at $25 both are scheduled to release in February 2018.
Rocket Knight Adventures and Kid Dracula are priced at $20 each and are scheduled to release before Q1 2018.
Ship To Shore PhonoCo. just opened preorders for their previously announced vinyl releases of the Konami Kukeiha Club soundtracks to Rocket Knight Adventures and Kid Dracula.
Rocket Knight Adventures will be a single LP on “Rocket Flash” red and yellow colored vinyl. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket with artwork from the game.
Kid Dracula will be a 10″ on red vinyl with black splatter. It will be housed in a 10″ jacket with design by Drew Wise and it includes a poster with new art by Austin James and liner notes by Jeremy Parish. Kid Dracula will be the second entry in Ship To Shore’s “Konami Kukeiha Club Museum Series”.
Kid Dracula will be the Famicom version of the soundtrack.
Both releases are priced at $20 and are scheduled to release around December 9, 2017.
I’ve asked about EU distribution and Ship To Shore said that both titles will likely be available from an EU vendor, although there’s no ETA on when.
There’s also been some rumors on a possible exclusive Yetee variant for Rocket Knight Adventures, but no news on that one either. I’ll update this post when news are announced.
Also available is Christa Lee’s “Welcome To The Fantasy Zone” album, which isn’t actual video game music, but rather a love letter to Sega game music, so it might be interesting to some of you Sega fans.
The Nex Machina variant will be on red translucent vinyl with black swirl and includes a digital download. Otherwise it will be similar to the Limited Run version.
Tormentor X Punisher will be a single LP on pink marbled vinyl and will be housed in a jacket with new artwork by Jon Vermilyea. It will include a digital download for the soundtrack as well as a code for the game itself.
Nex Machina is priced at $33 and Tormentor X Punisher is priced at $23. Both are scheduled to ship early December 2017.
Because I’m typing faster than iam8bit can upload their store I completely missed out on the other two releases in the previous post on Conker’s Bad Fur Day so here goes!
Grant Kirkhope’s soundtrack to Viva Piñata and David Wise’s soundtrack for Battletoads In Battlemaniacs are also both getting released for Black Friday.
Viva Piñata will be a 2LP on “sweet and sour” pink and green colored records. It will be housed in a jacket with new artwork by Ashton Dame.
Battletoads In Battlemaniacs will be a single LP on “toad” multicolor starburst vinyl. It will be housed in a jacket with new artwork by Dima Drjuchin.
Both will be remastered for these vinyl releases and include digital downloads (sent via e-mail and only if ordered from iam8bit).
Viva Piñata will be priced at $35 and Battletoads In Battlemaniacs at $28. Both are scheduled to release in Q2 2018.
iam8bit just announced that they will have Robin Beanland’s soundtrack for Conker’s Bad Fur Day for sale for Black Friday.
The release will be a 2LP on black vinyl housed in a jacket with new artwork by Joey Spiotto. The soundtrack will be remastered exclusively for this release and it comes with a digital download.
The release is priced at $35 and is scheduled to release in Q2 2018.
Limited Run Games have announced that they will be releasing Ari Pulkkinen’s soundtrack to the game Nex Machina on vinyl. The release will be produced by Fangamer, but it’s unclear whether they will also act as a label for this release.
The release will be a 2LP on clear vinyl with red and black splatter. It’s housed in a gatefold jacket with game art. It is limited to 500 copies.
As of now there haven’t been any mention of other variants of this soundtrack being released elsewhere, but the store page description hints at this.
EDIT: The store page was updated with the text “Album is still in production and the art may change slightly” after this post was written indicating that this is a preorder and will not release on November 10. I’ll try to update with an ETA for release once it’s announced.
BioWare have just announced that they will be releasin John Paesano’s score to the game Mass Effect: Andromeda on vinyl.
The set will be a 3LP release on white, blue, and orange colored vinyl. They will be housed in a triple gatefold jacket with game art as well as new artwork by Hydro74.
It is priced at $80 and is scheduled to release in late November 2017.
A few days ago – on November 3, 2017 – The Yetee announced that they will be releasing the first of R23X’s tracks for the game EarthCade on vinyl.
What is EarthCade exactly? It’s an in-development game worked on on and off as a passion project, so there’s no clear release date. It’s also a new brand from The Yetee consisting of clothing and accessories where 10% of all sales go to wildlife preservation charities.
The vinyl release will be a 7″ on green vinyl housed in a 7″ jacket with artwork by Drew Wise. It will be a pressing of 250 copies.
It is priced at $13 and is scheduled to release in December 2017. 10% of all sales go to the Wildlife Preservation Society.
