Spacelab9’s Fallout 3 vinyl soundtrack finally announced

A post on Modern Vinyl today showed what had been teased for a while – and maybe a little more than that. Inon Zur’s Fallout 3 score will be released by Spacelab9 on a 14-track picture disc sampler (exclusive to Hot Topic) as well as a 3LP + a 7″ blue vinyl housed in a triple gatefold inside a slipcase box that’s being sold by the official Bethesda Store.

There’s no release date confirmed for either, but the picture disc is currently being sold at Spacelab9’s booth at New York Comic Con meaning that they have been pressed.

UPDATE: Spacelab9 has revealed on Facebook that the release date for both will be November 13.

UPDATE: Bethesda have revealed that the 3LP+7″ will cost $85

UPDATE: Pre-orders are now live through the Bethesda Store

Music from Final Fantasy VIII will be released on vinyl

A listing from Square Enix’s Japanese Store have just confirmed that a picture disc vinyl record with music from Final Fantasy VIII will be released on vinyl with an estimated release date of December 21st, 2015.

According to the listing it is a selection of music from the game and the tracks are chosen by composer Nobuo Uematsu himself. The listing doesn’t mention if it’s a 2LP like the Final Fantasy VII vinyl release was or if it is just a single LP.

The Japanese store will only ship within Japan itself, but seeing how the Final Fantasy VII release was also available in the European stores I think that it’s fair to remain optimistic that it will be available outside Japan later on.

UPDATE: I’ve been in touch with Square Enix Merch EU customer support, who, when asked if they were planning on releasing this outside Japan, told me that they were “considering the option”.

UPDATE 2: It is now available through the Square Enix EU store. It was also disclosed that it will be limited to 2,000 numbered copies. It will be released on December 15, 2015.

BIT.TRIP’s Greatest Chips is being released on vinyl by iam8bit

iam8bit has really found their niche with video game music on vinyl and have presented yet another pre-order.

This time it’s a greatest hits compilation with music from the BIT.TRIP games. It will feature music from Bit Shifter, Bubblyfish, Nullsleep, Anamanaguchi (who also did the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game OST), and minusbaby.

The artwork is done by Drew Wise and the record will be a picture disc pressed on clear vinyl (see the mockups below).
As an extra bonus this will come with codes for all 7 BIT.TRIP games (on Steam) as well as their full digital soundtracks. It will be limited to 1,500 copies and will cost $25.

The “Mega Man: The Best Of Mega-Man 1-10” picture disc is now up for sale online

Spacelab9’s delayed and long-awaited Mega Man picture disc can now be purchased through Hot Topic’s website and stores.

If you don’t like picture discs, Hot Topic, or both then you’re in luck as Spacelab9 has promised to release a standard vinyl version on their own site on a later undisclosed date.

Update: While I was writing this the release sold out. It might still be available in-store, though.

Update 2: In a comment on a reddit-post, Spacelab9 said that they hope to be able to ship the standard vinyl versions in late September/early October.
