Earlier this week iam8bit announced that they would be releasing all the tracks from Rez Infinite’s Area X on vinyl as part of their Black Friday line-up and now preorders are live.
The release will be a single LP on orange colored vinyl. It will be housed in a single-pocket die-cut jacket with an inner sleeve. The release will feature design and artwork by Cory Schmitz.
In mid-December last year Brave Wave announced that they would be releasing a Panzer Dragoon Saga arrangement album titled “Resurrection: Panzer Dragoon Saga 20th Anniversary Arrangement“. Well, now it’s almost here!
What’s really interesting is that the arrangement is done by the original soundtrack’s composer Saori Kobayashi. In an interview with The Verge Kobayashi has stated that: “I was able to achieve the kind of music that I wanted to do 20 years ago“.
Also present on this new arrangement is Eri Ito, Triforce Quartet, and Maho Azuma.
The vinyl release will be a 2LP on lilac colored vinyl. It will be housed in a gatefold jacket with artwork by Katsumi Yokota with additional design by Cory Schmitz. The release will include a booklet with essays and liner notes by people who worked on the game as well as archival artwork.
The soundtrack will be a 2LP + a bonus 7″ and contains the remastered Rez soundtrack. The records are held in a custom 48-page book cover with new artwork and design by Cory Schmitz. The book includes interviews with the original development team as well as images from the game and is written by Nick Hurwitch.
The records come in two variants. A colored vinyl set with orange 2LPs (one translucent and one opaque) and a black and grey marbled 7″ for $75 as well as a limited edition picture disc set for $85 (limited to 1000 copies). The release is estimated to ship in Q4, 2016.
The soundtrack is done by Maclaine Diemer, Lena Chappelle and Stan LePard and artwork for the vinyl version was done by Cory Schmitz. From the images provided (see below) it appears to be a 2LP on green splatter vinyl in a gatefold cover with printed inner sleeves. The score has been mastered specifcally for vinyl by Telegraph Mastering.
Additionally, ordering the soundtrack will give you a download link for the full digital soundtrack including bonus tracks.
The price is set at $40 and it is set to release in Q2 2016.
You can pre-order it from iam8bit here. EU customers might want to wait a bit as it is not yet up in iam8bit’s UK store.
