Halo trilogy vinyl box set collection now available to preorder from Laced Records

Laced Records are releasing a collection of music from the first three games in popular shooter series Halo on vinyl. It is both available in a box set and as individual releases.

The release will be an 8 LP set available in two color variants – a limited edition green and black “galaxy” swirl, orange and black “galaxy” swirl, and blue and black “galaxy” swirl colored vinyl variant, and a standard edition black vinyl variant.
They will be housed in printed wide-spined jackets within a silver laminate board box all with sleeve artwork by Isaac Hannaford.

The standalone releases will be a 2LP and two 3LPs for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 respectively. The vinyl colors available and jackets will be identical to those within the box set.

The box is priced at £140, Halo: Combat Evolved at £36 and Halo 2+3 at £50 each and all are set to release in April, 2025. They can be preordered from Laced Records here.

The Essential Games Music Collection arrangement vinyl compilation now up for preorder

Diggers Factory and Silva Screen Records are teaming up to bring back volumes 1 and 2 of the The Essential Games Music Collection arrangement albums by London Music Works back on vinyl – but this time together in one release. They have previously been released on vinyl separately.

The release will be a 2LP on clear vinyl. It will be housed in a die-cut jacket with new artwork.

It is priced at €25 and is scheduled to release in October, 2023. It can be preordered from Diggers Factory here.

Orchestral game music LP from London Music Works up for backing

The crowdfunding service Digger’s Factory have partnered up with UK soundtrack label Silva Screen for a vinyl release of the 2011 recording “The Essential Games Music Collection Vol. 1”.

It is an orchestral recording of music from various games performed by film music orchesta London Music Works. It features music from the games Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Gears Of War 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Assassin’s Creed II, World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King, Halo 3, Final Fantasy VII, Battlefield 1942, The Curse Of Monkey Island, Turrican II: The Final Fight, The Legend Of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros.

The release will be a single 140g black vinyl LP. It will be housed in a regular LP jacket.

The campaign will need 100 preorders in order for the company to launch a pressing of 1000 copies. It is priced at €20 and if the campaign is successful it is scheduled to release in November, 2020. It can be backed via Digger’s Factory here.

Arrangement album “The Greatest Video Game Music” to get a vinyl release

X5 Music Group is releasing the classical arrangement album The Greatest Video Game Music on vinyl for the first time. It was originally released in 2011 on CD and digital and is performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

It includes music from the games Advent Rising, Angry Birds, Battlefield 2, BioShock, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VII, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, The Legend Of Zelda, Mass Effect 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy, Tetris, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and World Of Warcraft.

The release will be a 2LP, but there is not a lot of information available about the packaging. It seems it will use the same artwork that was on the CD version, though.

It is priced around £20 and is scheduled to release in August, 2019. Price and exact release date varies between different retailers, though. It can be preordered via Amazon UK here.
