A vinyl version of Black Materia by Mega Ran & Lost Perception is set to release on Record Store Day

It was teased via a small YouTube-clip from The Yetee back in January, but now it’s up on their website and it is set to release on Saturday – April 16th (Record Store Day 2016).

Black Materia is a rap/hiphop album by Mega Ran & Lost Perception in which they use background music and samples from Final Fantasy VII. The album was originally release on CD and digital back in 2011, but is now receiving a vinyl release as well. The vinyl version has been remixed and remastered with new orchestrated Final Fantasy VII arrangements by R23X.  A full remaster of the track “Avalanche” have been uploaded to Soundbutt. Additionally, the full unremastered album can still be streamed via Bandcamp, although the new version is bound to be somewhat different.

The album features completely new artwork done by Drew Wise.

The album will come out on a 140g 2LP via Yetee Records. It’s marketed as a limited edition, but there’s no word on how limited it is.

The Black Materia 2LP can be ordered from their website here (orders cannot be placed until April 16, though).

Laced Records also set to release the No Man’s Sky OST on vinyl

Back in early March it was revealed that iam8bit would be releasing the soundtrack to the upcoming space exploration game No Man’s Sky on vinyl. Now, however, it turns out that they’re not the only ones as Laced Records have listed a vinyl version of 65daysofstatic’s soundtrack on their website which is up for pre-order now.

The release on their site is titled “No Man’s Sky: Music For An Infinite Universe” and will be a gatefold 180g 2LP with brand new artwork by Caspar Newbolt (note that the artwork on the listing isn’t the actual artwork which is still being made).

Additionally, a 4LP deluxe box set is also up for pre-order.

The 2LP version will include 65daysofstatic’s full OST while the 4LP set will include the OST + 6 soundscapes from the game.  Both versions will include an MP3 download for the full OST + soundscapes.

The releases are currently scheduled for a Q3 2016 release and can be preordered from Laced Records’ website. The 2LP version here and the 4LP box set here.

UPDATE: 65daysofstatic have uploaded a track from the soundtrack to Soundcloud. Click here to listen to ‘Supermoon’.

Mondo with huge Konami announcement, Quantum Break OST from iam8bit, and confirmation that the Enter The Gungeon OST will come out on vinyl

Last week it was confirmed that Mondo would release the soundtrack to Castlevania on vinyl, but today they confirmed via Mashable that they have many more Konami titles coming out. Hold on to your hats everyone because this is what they have in store for us – Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night, Contra, and – one of the most requested titles – Silent Hill!

So far it’s just been announced that the first release will be Castlevania, which will be available at the San Diego Comic-Con in July. This likely means that a release for the general public will be available online shortly after (which is what they did with their The Last Of Us release).

Following Mondo’s announcement today and Ship To Shore PhonoCo.’s earlier Konami announcement it’s safe to say that Konami are going all in on getting their soundtracks out on vinyl.

But this is not today’s only announcement. iam8bit also announced that they will be releasing Petri Alanko’s Quantum Break soundtrack on vinyl. The release will be on 180g white with colored splatter vinyl and will feature new artwork by Christina Mrozik.

The release is limited to 3000 copies and is set for a Q3 2016 release.

It can be preordered via iam8bit’s US store here and their UK store here.

And we’re not quite done yet. Finally, it was announced on Twitter today that Doseone’s soundtrack to the new indie title Enter The Gungeon will also see a vinyl release. No specifics have been revealed about that one yet, though.

The music to FTL: Advanced Edition will be released on vinyl by iam8bit

Today iam8bit announced that they’re releasing Ben Prunty’s music for the Advanced Edition of FTL: Faster Than Light on vinyl.

The release will come on 180g “cosmic splatter” colored vinyl (similar to their release of the original FTL soundtrack, however with yellow splatter instead of green) and will feature new artwork by Leif Podhajsky on a metallic foil record jacket. The release will also come with a digital download of the music. The release is limited to 1000 copies and is set to release in Q2, 2016.

There’s been some confusion about the tracklist content so just to make it clear – all tracks on this release are different from the ones on the original FTL soundtrack.

It can be pre-ordered today via iam8bit’s US site as well as their UK site.

Mondo to release the Castlevania soundtrack on vinyl

Yesterday Mondo launched their latest mixtape with teaser tracks from their upcoming releases on Soundbutt and it opened with the Prologue from the Castlevania soundtrack by Kinuyo Yamashita and Satoe Terashima. They later confirmed in a comment on Twitter that they will indeed be releasing the soundtrack!

So far that’s all the news there is, but this is big news as this have been one of the most requested OSTs to receive the vinyl treatment and one that’s previously been unofficially released.

UPDATE: The release can now be ordered via Mondo here (Mondo exclusive grey splatter) and via Amazon here (black vinyl retail version).

A Hotline Miami 3LP release can now be backed on Kickstarter

I don’t normally do news posts for Kickstarters as there’s some uncertainty related to whether or not they’ll happen – but this is a big one, so I’m making an exception!

Ever since the release of the game, the Hotline Miami soundtrack fans have requested that the soundtrack receives a vinyl release. And the demand and interest only increased after the game’s sequel received a vinyl release last year.

Now it can finally happen! In collaboration with Dennaton Games and Devolver Digital, the label Laced Records have launched a Kickstarter for an official 3LP release of the original Hotline Miami OST + 4 bonus tracks.

The records come on a color each – one black, one red, one yellow – and will come in a triple gatefold cover with brand new artwork by Niklas Akerblad and Protski.

Laced Records is aiming for a £40,000 goal on Kickstarter to make this happen. If it succeeds a first pressing of 5000 copies will be made. Early bird pledges is £30 and when those are out it will be £35. Additional tiers are available for extra Hotline Miami goodies as well.

Iam8bit to release the soundtrack to No Man’s Sky on vinyl

The album will be released on 2 180g colored records – it appears one is light blue while the other is dark red. The cover art is done by Simon Stålenhag while the gatefold art is by Kuldar Leement.

The album will be priced at $35 and as of announcing it there is no hints on when it will be released.

You can place a pre-order via iam8bit’s US store here and via their UK/EU store here.

UPDATE: iam8bit have stated that they’re aiming for a late-June release. Also – they are now offering media mail on orders from their US store.

You can listen to the track “Debutante” from the album on YouTube.

It appears “Debutante” isn’t on the final album. You can, however, stream the new track “Supermoon” from the OST via Soundcloud now.
